What is the Cambridge Secondary Programme ?
Cambridge Secondary Programme 1 is for students of the age group 11 to 14 years (grade 6 to grade 8). It develops learner skills and understanding in English, mathematics and science for the first three years of secondary education. The program provides a natural progression from primary education. It sets clear learning objectives for the first three years of secondary education in English, mathematics and science. It is compatible with other curricula, internationally relevant and sensitive to different needs and cultures.

Syllabus

The school offers the following subjects in grades 6, 7 and 8:
English
Language – Tamil, French, Hindi
General Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)
Social Sciences – History, Geography
Computer Science & Arts
Mathematics

Arts, Yoga and Sports are also an integral part of the curriculum. The course prepares the students to take the Cambridge Checkpoint tests.

Cambridge Checkpoint

Cambridge Checkpoint tests are conducted and assessed by Cambridge University. The tests are to be taken in English, Mathematics and Science. The tests cover all major areas of learning required in the first years of an international secondary education. Cambridge Checkpoint examination sessions in M.CT.M CHIDAMBARAM CHETTYAR INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL are conducted during April and results are issued in June.

The tests are marked in Cambridge and provide schools with an external international benchmark for learner performance. Each learner receives a statement of achievement and a diagnostic feedback report, giving schools detailed information and parents extra trust in the feedback they receive.
